A key contributor to Tim’s entire Dallas medical history has bleeding wounds and won’t be able to go back.

Phoenix — How much time could Luka Doncic be sidelined following his left ankle sprain sustained on Thursday night during the Mavericks’ victory over the Suns?

After the game, coach Jason Kidd declined to comment, but sources told The Dallas Morning News on Friday that the player was day-to-day.

On the second night of their last two back-to-back games (Jan. 8 against the Thunder and Jan. 15 against the Trail Blazers) this season, the Mavericks ruled out Doncic due to left ankle soreness; however, the label functioned more as a diagnosis for planned rest and recovery than as an obvious injury.

In the closing seconds of the Mavericks’ Nov. 15 victory over the Denver Nuggets, Doncic sprained his left knee and ankle, causing him to miss three games the previous season.

After eight days, Doncic made a comeback, although he didn’t seem fully recovered. Then, on December 4, he missed the second night of a back-to-back in Memphis due to left ankle soreness. Three games later, he missed six straight games due to the same injury. He missed ten straight games due to an overlapping bout of COVID-19, which gave him more time to recover and recondition his ankle.

In the NBA bubble during Game 3 of the 2020 playoffs, he also sprained his left ankle. Despite the injury, he continued to play the rest of the Clippers first-round series.

Three times in the past three years, Doncic has sprained his right ankle. He missed one game against the Rockets on January 7, 2022, seven times in January and February of 2020, and four times in December of 2019.
