Due to his issues, Flyers head coach Logan Patrick has announced his retirement.
It was reportedly revealed on Tuesday that Nolan Patrick, a former forward for the Philadelphia Flyers, had retired from professional hockey. However, Patrick didn’t exactly say those things.
Former first-round pick Jayce Hawryluk founded The Power Play, a hockey coaching and mentoring program. On Tuesday, The Power Play posted an Instagram photo introducing their “team.”
Nolan Patrick, a former top Flyers prospect, is a member of this team and is a mentor, video coach, and skills specialist. It also says that Patrick is a “retired pro with significant NHL experience.” This virtually confirms that the former No. 2 overall pick of the Flyers is no longer playing in the NHL.
Edit: Nolan Patrick clarified that he has not retired from hockey but declined to speak with Elliotte Friedman about the situation. Since then, The Power Play has changed their post to refer to Patrick as a “4x NHL Pro.”
Although Patrick had just turned 25 in September, his playing career was abruptly cut short by migraines and concussions. The last time the former talisman of the Brandon Wheat Kings played in the NHL was on March 24, 2022, against the Nashville Predators.
Naturally, the Predators traded him to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Cody Glass. What about the Flyers of Philadelphia? Ryan Ellis, whose playing days also seem to be in the past, was the one they ultimately chose.
With 222 games played, Patrick finished his NHL career with 32 goals, 45 assists, and 77 points. Patrick played in 197 regular-season games for the Flyers, tallying 30 goals, 40 assists, and 70 points.
