Collin Sexton was mocked by Mike Breen for his trash talk. Brunson, Jalen

While not all members of the media have endorsed Jalen Brunson just yet, the play-by-play voice of the New York Knicks, Mike Breen, is undoubtedly behind him.

Early in the first quarter, with the Knicks hosting the Utah Jazz to begin a six-game homestand in New York on Tuesday night, Collin Sexton attempted to manipulate Brunson. Though he didn’t have to, Brunson didn’t respond in a kind way.

Rather, Breen, who is arguably the sweetest basketball player ever, responded by joining Brunson in laughing off Sexton’s attempt at trash talk during the broadcast.

Breen stated on the MSG broadcast, “Right now, Sexton is engaging in some mind games.” “Talking to Jalen Brunson and getting in his face…He’s speaking to the fans now. Great conversation for a 1-10 game last night,” the venerable commentator continued, chuckling.

Breen was there to provide a dose of reality in case Sexton felt he was deserving of taunting a player of Brunson’s caliber. Trash talk is definitely not the first thing that comes to mind when basketball fans think of Mike Breen. However, it was trash talk done in the most classy manner when you pointed out to the Utah Jazz point guard that he was coming off a brutal game against the Brooklyn Nets.

The Knicks’ success can be attributed in large part to Brunson, who is beginning to be mentioned as the MVP even though fans didn’t choose him for the NBA All-Star starters. However, Sexton’s attempt to confuse Brunson’s game on Tuesday night proved unsuccessful, as the Knicks won 118-103 thanks to their should-be All-Star point guard’s 29 points and nine assists.
