The No. 2 overall selection in the 2017 NHL Draft, Nolan Patrick, looks to have retired from the game at the age of 25.

Patrick, who suffers from a migraine disorder, didn’t play for the Vegas Golden Knights until March of 2022.

Following his announcement on Instagram that he was working as a skills specialist and video coach for The Power Play, a hockey coaching and mentorship program, reports of his retirement began to circulate on Tuesday.

Patrick was described in the post as a “retired pro with significant NHL experience.”

After he scored 102 points (41 goals, 61 assists) in 72 games for the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings in 2015–16, the Winnipeg native was chosen by the Philadelphia Flyers with the second pick in 2017.

After spending portions of three seasons with the Flyers and one with the Golden Knights, Patrick played in 222 games for the Flyers, collecting 77 points (32 goals, 45 assists) and 83 penalty minutes.
