Gov. Wes Moore of Maryland enjoys a shotgun beer at a tailgate with other Ravens fans.
In addition to being a groundbreaking writer and state administrator, 45-year-old Maryland governor Wes Moore is an ardent Baltimore Ravens fan who enjoys drinking beer from a shotgun and dressing in purple and gold.
Although Moore is clearly a huge Ravens fan, as WTOP’s viewers are probably already aware, a recent video of the governor uploaded by Baltimore Banner Sports practically shouts purple and gold pride.
“I picture myself in the people’s shoes. That is, after all, who we are? We love that,” an animated Moore told the Banner. “This is amazing, man, watching the energy that we’re seeing around this team in Baltimore and Maryland.”
Fans of the Baltimore Ravens were out in large numbers, confident in their team’s chances of winning. Tailgaters told WTOP’s Heather Gustafson that they were just as excited to watch the Ravens take on the Kansas City Chiefs even with six minutes remaining in the game.
A supporter remarked, “Anybody’s game still.”
Of course, Ravens supporters weren’t the only ones packed into the stadium. Throughout the day and well into the game’s conclusion, purple and gold crowds were dotted with the striking red of the Kansas City Chiefs.
One tailgaters remarked, “I saw one red jersey over there, gave her a little scoffing and walked away but it’s all good.”
Some attendees were primarily drawn to the sight of a certain pop star belting out Red (Taylor’s Version).
Outside of a nearby bar, one fan exclaimed, “My wife is a huge Taylor Swift fan.” “She can only become interested in football because of that.”
While some tailgaters expressed their satisfaction with Swift’s support of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, others told Gustafson that they would try to meet the pop sensation if it wasn’t too much trouble.
It is wonderful if she is present. The Ravens supporter said to WTOP prior to the game, “She’s a good girlfriend if she’s here supporting her boyfriend.”
Kelce and the Chiefs may have been fortunate to have Swift’s encouraging return to the D.C. area; they defeated the Ravens 17-10 to make it to the Super Bowl. The Chiefs will take on the San Francisco 49ers there; the Chiefs lost to them during their most recent Super Bowl run only four years prior.
