What is the Rams’ salary cap space for the upcoming offseason?
After finishing 10-7 and earning a Wild Card berth in the NFC playoffs, the Los Angeles Rams emerged as one of the NFL’s surprise teams of 2023. However, they were narrowly defeated on the road by the Detroit Lions in the postseason.
With quarterback Matthew Stafford and defensive tackle Aaron Donald back in the lineup in 2024, this is a team that is most likely a few tweaks away from contending for the Super Bowl.
One of the top receiver tandems in the NFL is Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. Kyren Williams, a running back, had an incredible second season, scoring 12 touchdowns on the ground. Outside linebacker Byron Young had eight sacks and two forced fumbles in his rookie season in the NFL, and nose tackle Kobie Turner is a contender for Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Les Snead, general manager, will be pleased to learn that the Rams will have a first-round pick in 2024. This will be their first first-round selection since selecting Jared Goff with the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Sean McVay, the coach, has never owned a first-round pick. It’s frightening to consider what the Rams could do with the 19th overall pick at their disposal, considering how successful they have historically been at drafting in the later rounds.
Of course, the Rams will have the chance to strengthen their roster through free agency as well. The Rams are currently projected to have slightly less than $27.7 million to work with this year in free agency, per Over The Cap. Although it’s not a huge sum, a team that has struggled with cap space and draft capital over the past two offseasons might feel constrained by it.
