Eagles experienced yet another horrific injury that resulted in the death of a vital player.

When they lost three more players to injury on Sunday against the Jets, the Eagles suffered yet another major blow to their secondary.

CB Eli Ricks left the game due to a knee injury, CB Bradley Roby was sidelined with a shoulder injury and may not return, and SAF Reed Blankenship left the game due to a rib injury. In the end, Ricks and Blankenship were eliminated.

Since the team was already without safeties Justin Evans and Sydney Brown as well as CBs Avonte Maddox and Darius Slay, these injuries really just made matters worse.

Sean Desai, the defensive coordinator, has discussed the importance of rotating players throughout the backfield for precisely this reason.

Nevertheless, it is impossible that they could have anticipated having this many injuries at once. Since Week 2, they’ve had to switch around players in the secondary, moving safeties and CBs to the slot and back out again.

Nothing could have prepared them for losing different lineups of three to five players every week, even though Howie Roseman had worked hard the previous two seasons to strengthen the safety and cornerback positions, so depth didn’t seem to be a problem heading into the season.
