Ohio State will receive Alabama’s top-ranked quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class, Julian Sayin, as he transfers.
On Sunday, Sayin spoke with ESPN about his choice. He became the 26th athlete and the second signee to depart Alabama since head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement earlier this month, and Kalen DeBoer of Washington was hired to take his place. He had logged into the transfer site on Friday.
Sayin told ESPN that he was “incredibly excited to join the team here at Ohio State.” “Throughout my entire recruiting process, I held this program in the highest regard. I’m excited to learn from some of the best players and coaches in college football and to help our team succeed.”

Sayin, a Carlsbad, California native, walks into an Ohio State quarterback room that is packed. Earlier this month, Kansas State transfer Will Howard was plucked from the portal by coach Ryan Day. Along with returning players Devin Brown and Lincoln Kienholz, the Buckeyes will also have Air Noland, who was regarded as the standout recruit from Ohio State’s 2024 class.
This offseason, Ohio State acquired three players from Alabama. Caleb Downs, a safety and the national freshman of the year, declared his intention to play for the Buckeyes on Friday. Center Seth McLaughlin transferred to Ohio State earlier this month.
Additionally, earlier this month, the Buckeyes added Mississippi running back Quinshon Judkins as a transfer. They also welcomed back wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and running back TreVeyon Henderson, who both chose to return to school rather than sign with an NFL team.
