After a protracted battle to sign this incredible star, the Boston Celtics have finally sealed this historic contract.
Nathan Knight just finished a season in which he played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 38 games during the regular season.
The 26-year-old shot 56.8% from the floor and averaged 3.7 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.
In two NBA playoff games, he made an appearance, but the Timberwolves fell to the Denver Nuggets in the opening round.
The New York Knicks released Knight recently, and according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, he will now sign a contract with the Boston Celtics.
According to Wojnarowski: “Free agent F Nathan Knight is signing a two-way deal with the Boston Celtics, sources tell ESPN.”
Knight spent three NBA seasons as a player with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Atlanta Hawks.
In 108 regular season games, he shot 47.6% from the field and averaged 3.7 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.
In addition, he has played in eight NBA playoff games. In 2021, he was a member of the Hawks team that advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Celtics will take on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Wednesday night in their opening game of the 2023–24 regular season.
With a 57-25 record, they finished as the second seed in the Eastern Conference the previous season.
The Boston Celtics defeated the Atlanta Hawks and the Philadelphia 76ers in the first two rounds of the NBA playoffs.
But in the Conference Finals, they fell short against the Miami Heat in Game 7.
In five of the last seven seasons, the Celtics have advanced to the Conference Finals.
