The Boston Celtics have a new strong and talented player named for the upcoming game.
Boston: Today, J.D. Davison, a guard, was signed by the Boston Celtics to a two-way contract. The terms of the agreement were kept confidential per team policy.
The Celtics originally chose Davison, 6-3/195, with the 53rd overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. During his rookie season, Davison played in 12 games, averaging 5.5 minutes per game with 1.6 points and 0.9 assists. On April 9, against Atlanta, he scored eight points, three made field goals, three rebounds, three assists, and two blocks, all of which were season highs.
During his 44 games with the Maine Celtics, he shot 49.7 percent from the field and averaged 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 0.8 steals. With 339 assists during the regular season, the Alabama native finished fourth in the NBA G League. That total also ranks third all-time in franchise history and is second most assists in a single season by a Maine player, behind Tim Frazier (2014–15). Maine made its first Playoff appearance in six years with Davison’s assistance.
