Don Deal; the top player for the Washington Commanders, has agreed to sign a contract with the kansas City Chiefs.
Marcus Kemp, a former wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, was signed by the Washington Commanders on Friday, marking their first offseason acquisition.
Hawaii native Kemp, 27, is a 6-foot-4, 210-pound receiver who signed an undrafted free agent contract in 2017 and made his NFL debut. Prior to being cut in December 2020, Kemp played for the Chiefs for the first four seasons of his career. Kemp was active for the final game of the regular season after being added to the Miami Dolphins practice squad. Following that game, his contract expired, and the Chiefs signed him back to their practice squad for the postseason, where he played for the majority of the 2021 campaign.
Kemp signed with the New York Giants in July 2022 after becoming a free agent, only to be cut a month later. In October, Kemp signed on with the Kansas City practice squad once more. He played his entire season with the Chiefs and earned his second Super Bowl ring.
Kemp’s practice squad contract expired after the Super Bowl, making him a free agent.
Kemp is the first former Kansas City player to follow new Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy to Washington. Bieniemy has mostly played special teams in the NFL.
