Unsettling new information has surfaced from the scene of Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins’ death on a Florida highway at the hands of a dump truck.
Witness Chris Stanley, a local, told the Columbus Dispatch that he thinks he saw the late quarterback on the highway prior to the collision, noticing cars veering into his lane. However, investigators have so far refused to comment on the crash and will only provide information after the case is closed.
Stanley reported, “And what I saw was a Mack truck, or a large tractor-trailer, along with another vehicle that started to move a little bit to the left.” “I was in the left lane, and the right lane was beyond that. It was then that I saw someone there beginning to cross the street.
He went on, saying he saw the man raising his arms. “He was about halfway, to a quarter way in the right lane, already onto the highway and I was already concerned that somebody was going to strike him right there at that moment,” he said.
“I couldn’t see any cars in the area. He was already navigating the road system, so I was more worried about him. That’s the reason it’s so unsettling. Stanley remarked, “I simply didn’t understand the circumstances.”
Haskins was declared deceased at the site. He was 24 years old.
During a fantastic 2018 season, the quarterback at Ohio State was a standout, throwing for 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns. Washington selected him in the first round, but he was waived in his sophomore season. After that, he signed a contract with the Steelers for the 2018–19 season, where he was expected to compete for a backup spot behind recently signed Mitchell Trubisky.
Before his untimely demise, Haskins was exercising in South Florida alongside multiple teammates from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
