Another star player for the Buckeyes has made an unexpected declaration regarding her retirement.
After leaving Ohio State to play football at Florida, Miller said that he will be leaving the Gators and that he has no plans to transfer.
Jack Miller III, a former quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes, is retiring.
The former Buckeyes signal-caller informed reporters that he would not be seeking a transfer and would instead be departing the Florida Gators.
Following a scandal that caused him to leave Ohio State, Miller played for the Gators for the 2022 season. Miller was a redshirt freshman at the time and received a citation for “operating a vehicle while intoxicated,” which was later reduced to “reckless operation.”
Miller has been suspended indefinitely by Ohio State coach Ryan Day, pending the conclusion of the investigation. Miller did, however, access the transfer portal prior to the season’s commencement.
More recently, against the Oregon State Beavers in the 2022 Las Vegas Bowl, Miller completed 13 of his 22 pass attempts for 180 yards. Unfortunately, he would only play one game with Florida—against the Beavers—in his career.
Miller had surgery to fix a thumb injury, which kept him out of the game for the entire 2022 season. Miller was supposed to be ready to play after the first few weeks of the season, but due to a series of setbacks, he was forced to work with trainers and medical professionals the entire year instead of his teammates.
For Miller, the future is now uncertain. The former quarterback, who just graduated from Florida, has a number of alternatives for his post-football career.
Many college athletes go on to become assistants in their respective departments. Florida ought to at least make that offer, given that they were never able to completely realize the reason they brought Miller in.
