Another terrible news hit the flyers as John Tortorella just revealed a heartbreaking..
When it became known that Patrick had joined the staff of Jayce Hawryluk’s recently established hockey coaching and mentoring program, “The Power Play,” rumors of his retirement began to circulate online.
Hawryluk played for the Vancouver Canucks, Ottawa Senators, and Florida Panthers before turning pro in the Czech Republic.
According to reports, Patrick’s description in the post announcing his appointment to the staff was “retired pro with significant NHL experience,” but it currently refers to him as a “4X NHL Pro with significant experience.”

When asked right away whether Patrick had retired, The Power Play and the NHL did not provide an answer.
After playing for the Flyers for four seasons, Patrick was traded to the Nashville Predators in 2021. He was traded by the Predators to the Vegas Golden Knights almost instantly. In 2021–22, he made 25 appearances for Vegas in the NHL, his final season.
NHL and NHLPA are looking into claims that a player was left untreated in the hospital for hours following a shot to the face.
In 2019, Patrick was diagnosed with migraine disorder, which seems to run in his family. The 2018–19 season saw him not play.
Steve Patrick, Patrick’s father, was an NHL player for 250 games. James, his uncle, was an NHL player for 23 seasons, spending time with the Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames, and New York Rangers.
