Two players have been added to the Lions’ injured reserve list.

Before facing the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round, the Detroit Lions made a number of roster changes and announcements.

Officially ending their seasons were tight end James Mitchell and cornerback Jerry Jacobs.

Although Jacobs is recovering from a lower-body injury, Mitchell had surgery on Friday to fix a hand injury.

The active rosters of cornerback Chase Lucas and tight end Anthony Firkser were augmented in a corresponding fashion.

Two players who were on the practice squad for Sunday’s game have been promoted: fullback Jason Cabinda and defensive lineman Tyson Alualu.

In order to make room on the roster for kicker Michael Badgley, Lucas was waived before the start of Week 17.

He was added back to the Lions practice squad after clearing waivers. With the exception of special teams, he has participated in 12 games this season.

As elevations during the regular season, Alualu and Firkser each played two games. Four tackles this season for the Lions have gone to Alualu, a 14-year veteran.

Meanwhile, Firkser is still without a catch on his record. It’s been a demanding few weeks for the Lions’ tight end depth. Sam LaPorta, a brilliant rookie, is questionable due to a knee injury, and Mitchell is out.

On Sunday night at Ford Field, the Lions and Rams are scheduled to play. Since 1991, Detroit has not won a postseason game.
