Another star player for the Chiefs has made an unexpected declaration regarding his retirement.
The talented tight end Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs is not likely to hang up his cleats anytime soon. In an interview with reporters earlier this week, Kelce refuted reports that he was considering retirement, stating that he has no intention of quitting football.
Publicity
The conversation that began to circulate regarding Kelce’s potential retirement following this season stemmed from his interview with Vanity Fair, in which the 34-year-old player discussed his post-NFL plans and approach to life. However, those plans are not as close to reality as many had initially believed.
“Dude, I have no reason to give up playing football. I adore it, said Kelce. “We’re still successful. Arrive with the appropriate attitude, and I simply adore the daily challenge it provides me to strive for excellence. And as I mentioned before, I don’t want to give up anytime soon.
Kelce continued by saying he plans to play out the remaining years on his contract, which expires in 2025, and that he is concentrated on expanding his collection of Super Bowl rings.
By his standards, Kelce has been having a poor year in 2023. 93 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns marked the end of his regular season stats. Kelce finished with fewer than 1,000 receiving yards for the first time since 2015.
