Lindy Ruff sadly announced the untimely absence of one of his key players due to a fatal injury.

Due to an injury he suffered last Friday during a game against the Chicago Blackhawks, Jack Hughes, the young star player for the New Jersey Devils, is expected to miss several weeks of action.

In an update, head coach Lindy Ruff stated that although Hughes won’t be sidelined for months, the team understands he will require some time to heal. To assess the 22-year-old forward’s development, a weekly evaluation will be conducted.

The Devils are devastated by this injury, especially in light of the fact that a number of important players, including Dougie Hamilton, Timo Meier, Tomas Nosek, and Jonas Siegenthaler, are already on the injured list.

Prior to the injury, Hughes, a former first-overall pick, had been on a roll, with a five-game point streak and six assists.

He has racked up 15 goals and 30 assists in 32 games despite missing a few early in the season, getting close to the remarkable pace he set in the 2022–2023 campaign.

The Devils, who are now fifth in the Metropolitan Division, are preparing for some big games, such as a trip through Florida and a meeting with the Boston Bruins, who are leading the Atlantic Division. Hughes will be greatly missed during this difficult stretch, and the team is hoping for a quick recovery for him as they work through injuries and try to earn a postseason berth.
