Don Deal: A player valued over $600 million is welcomed by the Chicago Bears.

It appears that the Chicago Bears have finally addressed the offensive line in free agency, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that guard Nate Davis will be joining the team.

With $19.25 million guaranteed, the $30 million contract has a three-year term.

In his first four seasons as a guard for the Tennessee Titans, 26-year-old Davis started 54 games. Although he has mostly played at right guard, he is expected to take Cody Whitehair’s spot this offseason as he may be lost to the salary cap.

Although he is still quite good at pass protection, Davis is a better run blocker than a pass blocker. Davis has only participated in one complete season of play, so his health has been a concern.

Today has been quite eventful for offensive tackles as the Bears were unable to sign Mike McGlinchey and Jawaan Taylor, two of the best options available.

With Davis, Chicago instead concentrated on the interior. It’s a hint that rather than overpaying, the Bears might decide to concentrate on selecting a tackle with the No. 9 pick.
