Bad news: The undrafted free agent went into early retirement, costing the Detroit Lions.

On Monday, the Detroit Lions lost an undrafted free agent to an early retirement and added a seasoned offensive lineman to compete for a backup tackle spot.

Kendall Lamm, who made one start for the Tennessee Titans in the previous season, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Lions. After Taylor Decker and Penei Sewell, who start at swing tackle, he will face competition from Matt Nelson, Dan Skipper, and Darrin Paulo.

Zein Obeid, a former offensive lineman for Ferris State, was placed on the reserve/retired list on Monday, and Lamm has taken his place.

Obeid is the third player in the Lions’ 12-person undrafted free agent class and the fourth player to retire early in the last two months.

It’s not just about football, and not everything about it is simple. So, you know, he’s a great kid, a grinder, and he worked. I wish him luck. And so, dude, let’s move on to the next project.”
