Rams Injury Update: Uncertain About Jordan Fuller’s Status Against Lions

The Los Angeles Rams went on a run late in the 2023 season to secure a spot in the NFL Playoffs, despite changing up the majority of the roster in the offseason.

In Week 18, the Rams defeated the San Francisco 49ers to end a 12-game losing streak during the regular season and secure the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoffs. During Wild Card weekend, Los Angeles will travel to play the Detroit Lions in a primetime matchup full of intriguing storylines.

Although they rested their most important veterans, the team will go into the playoff game largely healthy. Safety Jordan Fuller did leave the game against the 49ers in the first quarter due to an ankle injury. Fuller is regarded as day-to-day, according to Sean McVay, who is not sure if he will be able to play against the Lions.

Yes, the same thing. They are going to be daily. Of Fuller and linebacker Troy Reeder, McVay stated, “They won’t be able to practice.” “We’ll have a walkthrough on Wednesday, so we’ll essentially just see how they’re doing. With Jordan, it was an ankle, and with Troy, it was a hyperextended knee. We’ll keep trying to see how we can use the time we have. I hope they will be accessible. If not, we will make appropriate backup plans. Then, it appears that Joe Noteboom (OL) is progressing well with his heel. In terms of Wednesday, those are the only players who, based on projections, would likely be out right now.

Fuller has struggled with a number of ailments recently, including an ankle injury, so it wouldn’t be shocking if he missed this weekend’s game against Detroit. Russ Yeast filled in for him and made some excellent tackles against the 49ers.

If Fuller is ultimately unable to play, Yeast is expected to start; however, the Rams are undoubtedly hoping that their captain of the secondary, Will Hurley, will be able to practice during the week. Even though Yeast is showing that he can fill in, Fuller would be a great addition given the Lions’ offensive style and arsenal.

McVay talked about what the Rams would be losing if Fuller couldn’t play.

“A guy with great range in his playing, and a communicator.” He has, in my opinion, made a number of smart plays when it matters most, but he has been a captain for a purpose. Coaches and teammates hold him in the highest regard, and he plays with a toughness that comes naturally to him. Therefore, it would be significant for us, but we hope we won’t need to go in that direction just yet.

Sam LaPorta, a rookie tight end, may be sidelined for Detroit after sustaining a knee injury during their victory over the Minnesota Vikings. LaPorta has a chance to play, according to Lions head coach Dan Campbell, but given the nature of his injury, it seems likely he won’t.

Raheem Morris, the defensive coordinator for the Rams, is interviewing for head coaching jobs.
Defense coordinator Raheem Morris deserves recognition for his work with such a young defense, even though head coach Sean McVay has garnered a lot of praise for his efforts this season.

Morris, who has established himself as one of the league’s top coordinators in recent years, is apparently getting another chance at head coaching after the Commanders asked to interview him for their open post. Morris appears to be a hot commodity this cycle; the Los Angeles Chargers and Carolina Panthers have also asked to speak with him.
