January 6: On Saturday afternoon, the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the visiting Calgary Flames 3-2 thanks to goals and assists from Travis Konecny and Morgan Frost.
The Flyers won for just the second time in eight games as they ended a four-game losing streak with a goal from Sean Couturier and 22 saves from Carter Hart.
Calgary’s three-game winning streak came to an end as Jonathan Huberdeau and MacKenzie Weegar replied. Joel Markstrom made 39 saves.

At 2:27 of the third, Konecny gave the Flyers their first lead on a short-handed breakaway, beating Markstrom glove-side for his team-leading 21st goal of the year.
The Flyers are first in the league with 10 short-handed goals, and Konecny, who extended his point streak to seven games, has a league-leading five short-handed markers.
With 6:38 left, Calgary believed they had tied the score at three thanks to a shot by Noah Hanifin that beat Hart, but Flames forward Connor Zary was called for interference.

The two teams were tied 2-2 after forty minutes, despite the Flyers outshooting the Flames 24-10 in the middle frame.
At 1:55 of the second period, during a brief intermission, Huberdeau scored his first goal of the year by going bar down on Hart.
Frost responded for the Flyers at 4:15, putting home the rebound off Sean Walker’s point shot for his sixth of the season.
At 9:13, Weegar, scoring his ninth goal of the year, put Calgary ahead twice in the period with a backhand shot that beat Hart. Blake Coleman’s point streak was extended to four games with his assist on the goal.

With 3:54 left in the second, Flyers forward Couturier scored his 10th goal of the year on a power play to tie the score at 2-2 for Philadelphia.
After a scoreless first period, Philadelphia outshot Calgary 9–8.
In the only other meeting between the two teams this season, Calgary defeated Philadelphia 4-3 on Sunday.
