Don Deal Lions take a step forward and invest…

The Detroit Lions did everything they could to minimize their investment on Jared Goff’s backup for two seasons. General manager Brad Holmes’ statements about improving the situation were hollow for a large portion of the previous offseason.

Early in April, Teddy Bridgewater reportedly received a solid contract offer from the Lions. The former first-round pick stayed available all the way to training camp, seemingly hoping to hold out for more money or a chance at a starting positiosomewhere.

Bridgewater visited the Lions on July 24 and was signed by them in early August to a one-year contract worth up to $5 million ($2.5 million guaranteed).

This season, an NFL starting quarterback has been sidelined by injury almost every week. Just five of the 32 starters have appeared healthy so far this season, according to Pro Football Talk. Like, never on the injury report, whether you missed any games or not. Among those five is quarterback Jared Goff of the Lions, although a recent incident raised legitimate concerns about a hidden ailment.

Teddy Bridgewater, the Lions’ acquisition, is getting better all the time.

Despite his shortcomings and lack of potential, Bridgewater has 65 NFL starts under his belt. Many teams would be happy to have him as their No. 2 quarterback, including some that have not lost their main quarterback to a season-ending injury this year. Although Goff has shown remarkable durability throughout his career, the Lions are well-positioned in the event that he has a serious injury going forward.

The Detroit News’ Justin Rogers said last week that Mark Brunell, the quarterbacks coach, expressed comfort in the knowledge that the Lions have a strong backup in Goff.

“I believe coach (Dan) Campbell would respond, ‘That is why Teddy’s here,’ if you asked him this question.” Said Brunell. He is an established victor. He has demonstrated that, if needed, he can win five straight games for you off the bench. It is what he did in New Orleans. He is extremely intelligent, gifted, and capable of playing quarterback at a very high level while being quite elderly.”

After spending 17 years as an NFL player, Brunell made light of Bridgewater’s age (he turned 31 last month). However, the general idea remains. With Bridgewater leading the offense, a strong season is unlikely to collapse even if the Lions are forced to use their backup quarterback.

Though nothing is more economically wise than wagering $5 and winning $150, Bridgewater has been a wise investment for the Lions. There are a few simple actions you may take to ensure that precise payout. To begin, follow this link and create a DraftKings account. You then place a $5 wager. When you place that wager, you will immediately receive $150 in bonus bets credited to your account. For any bettor, those are some crazy odds, but act quickly—this offer is about to expire.
