Colts Announce a Rush of Changes to Their Roster to Start the 2024 Offseason
The Indianapolis Colts haven’t slept since their playoff hopes were dashed on Saturday night by a loss to the Houston Texans. They have been busy rearranging their roster in anticipation of 2024.
On Monday, the Colts made the following roster changes:
Releasing:
Tony Brown, CB
A one-year contract extension was signed by:
CB Baker, Darrell Jr. Trevor Denbow LB Cameron McGrone, LB Olubi Segun
Signed contracts to hold or forward:
LB Austin Ajiake LB Tyrie Cleveland, WR, Liam Anderson, S Dabo Marcel WR Ethan Fernea
G. Jordan Murray, RB; Arlington Hambright, TE Zavier Scott Eric Tomlinson, Tight End
Despite the fact that many names are on this list, a select few really stick out. Let’s start with the two players who have reserve/future contracts: Zavier Scott, the running back, and Marcel Dabo, the safety.

At the University of Maine, Scott played wide receiver, running back, and even quarterback. At 6’1″, 219 pounds, he is a versatile player who can be used in a variety of ways. He hasn’t quite gotten his footing yet. But that might be different with a play-caller like Shane Steichen.
Regarding Dabo, he joined the Indianapolis roster via the International Player Pathway Program. Due to his amazing athleticism, Dabo attracted the attention of scouts Chris Ballard and others while playing professionally in the European League of Football. He hasn’t had a chance to see the field quite like Scott has. However, considering how injuries occur and opportunities present themselves, it is possible that he will reach that summit sometime in 2024. He might spend time on the practice squad if not.
When it comes to one-year contract extensions, Darrel Baker Jr., a defensive back, stands out the most. Segun Olubi, a linebacker, could be included in this entry, but he performed admirably considering his circumstances, recording 26 tackles and one interception in 15 games with two starts this season. Olubi will probably start to play in 2024.
Although Baker, a second-year player, had occasional difficulties in 2023, he also didn’t see much of the field and might have been used more for off-season competition. This season, Baker appeared in 14 games, starting six of them, and recorded 35 tackles and seven passes defensed.
Regarding corner Tony Brown, there’s no reason to be surprised by his waving. He and pass-catcher Isaiah McKenzie would both receive season-long suspensions from the Colts for actions that were detrimental to the team.
For a few seasons in Indianapolis, Brown was a reliable special team member; however, when given the opportunity to play wide receiver, which is his position title, he was appalling. In 2024, he might try to find another NFL suitor.
