Bad news: Ben Johnson, the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, was interviewed by the Lions’ coordinators as well.
ALLEN PARK — To further demonstrate how well regarded the Detroit Lions reconstruction is, consider the number of teams that have already expressed interest in speaking with their coordinators.
Both defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson of the Lions have been contacted by the Los Angeles Chargers and Washington Commanders for interviews; Johnson has also been contacted by the Carolina Panthers, according to NFL Network. That makes three interviews—two with Glenn and two with Johnson—that have taken place in the few hours after the last weekend of the regular season.
The new NFL rules allow virtual interviews to begin as early as next week. NFL assistants whose teams are still in the playoffs are not permitted to have in-person interviews until January 22.
On Sunday night at Ford Field, Detroit will host the Los Angeles Rams in a wild-card game.

Johnson was always going to be in high demand. After taking over the offensive last season, he quickly moved the Lions into the top five in terms of total offense.
