Once more, the Eagles have exciting news…

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Buffalo Bills in overtime on November 27, and now they proudly hold a 10-1 record. When quarterback Jalen Hurts was playing at an MVP level, the Eagles, who were the runner-ups in the Super Bowl at the time, appeared to be poised for yet another deep postseason run. Unfortunately, the Eagles’ following six gameweeks would be complete busts for five of them.

The Eagles went into a serious slump after their 42-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on December 4. After their thrilling victory over the Bills, they went on to lose three straight games. They were defeated by the Dallas Cowboys 33-13 in a blowout and then by the Seattle Seahawks 20-17.

They seemed to have turned things around after beating the New York Giants, but they lost to a club that won just four games in Arizona, and they finished the season with a 27-10 loss to the Giants, which punctuated their downward spiral. Despite the dismal manner in which the Eagles concluded the season, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, who was not present for their defeat to the Giants, is unwavering in his conviction that the team can still contend for the Super Bowl.

“How many teams are holding exit meetings tomorrow, do you know? Many, many of them. Those teams are not who we are. According to Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal, Cox stated, “We are going to keep battling and that is the end of it.”

Fletcher Cox is correct, at the very least, in one area: the Eagles have a shot to win it all as long as they are in the running for the season. After all, the season consists of more than just the previous six games. They did, after all, win a postseason berth thanks to their stellar start to the season, and there is still a chance that that club is only dormant and will awaken in time for the postseason.

That will not work, though, unless the Eagles can miraculously revive their struggling offense. If they want to avoid the humiliation of having their season end early, Jalen Hurts will need to play a major role when they play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL Wild Card Round next week.
