Derrick Graham, an offensive tackle from Troy who visited the Buckeyes on Wednesday, announced his commitment to Texas A&M to Chris Hummer of 247Sports on Saturday.
Before making his choice, Graham traveled to Pittsburgh and Missouri in addition to Texas A&M on Friday.
Graham, who started at left tackle for Troy this past season, may have been a candidate to start for Ohio State in 2024 at either position. After starting every 13 games at left and right tackle in 2023, Josh Simmons and Josh Fryar are expected to return to the Buckeyes. However, Ohio State should reopen the tackle competitions this spring, as both tackles struggled with inconsistent play all season. Given that Matt Jones has used up all of his eligibility, Fryar might also be a candidate to move inside to right guard.
It will now be up to Ohio State to decide if it should bring in another available tackle from the portal or start spring practice with the tackles it already has on its roster. Luke Montgomery, a rising sophomore who saw limited first-team action in 2023 as a sixth offensive lineman, is the most likely candidate among returning linemen who did not start in 2023 to win a starting tackle position in 2024.
