Squirek intercepted a screen pass and returned it 12 yards for a touchdown as the Raiders were leading Washington near halftime of Super Bowl XVIII, giving the Silver and Black an unassailable 21-3 lead that would prove to be the winning margin.
After being selected by the Raiders in the second round of the 1982 NFL Draft out of Illinois, he played 53 games for the team before concluding his professional career with Miami.

In his post-NFL days, he operated a cleaning and janitorial service in the Cleveland area, according to multiple reporters.
Next Saturday, January 13, there will be a funeral service and burial in Broadview Heights, Ohio.
