An additional terrible wound to the commander’s…
Terry McLaurin has become one of the greatest players in Washington Redskins/Commanders history in his four years with the team.Having just finished his first season with 1,000 yards, he helped Washington win the NFC East as a sophomore. Then, following a holdout, he received a respectable three-year deal valued at $71 million shortly before 2022. That season, he was selected for the Pro Bowl, and the Commanders were not eliminated from the playoffs until very late in the season.
However, it is possible that the first season of the aforementioned extension has already finished. McLaurin sustained a toe injury during Monday’s preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens, the team’s crosstown foe, and will not be available for the remainder of the game.
Even while the X-rays ultimately revealed that there was no fracture, the injury is nevertheless a major setback for a club that is not very strong at pass-catching.
Injuries sustained by other Washington Commanders players during the preseason besides Terry McLaurin
It turns out that there have been injuries to Commanders during joint sessions with the Ravens besides Terry McLaurin. A few days prior, after Danny Johnson forced a fumble in a scrimmage, Baltimore’s top tight end Mark Andrews retaliated by body-slamming the cornerback, causing him to sprain his rotator cuff.
In relation to the defense, Phidarian Mathis, a defensive tackle, has also been struggling with a calf injury he received during a 17–15 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
A few days after suffering a quad injury earlier this month, rookie cornerback Emmanuel Forbes returned to action without any issues.
Terry McLaurin believes that the Commanders’ offensive needs to evolve.
In 2023, the Washington Commanders are about to enter a critical phase. Even while their defense is still among the best in the league, one of its main players, Chase Young, is expected to be a free agency following the season, and his future has been unclear.
The wide receiver is aware that this puts pressure on Terry McLaurin and the offense to perform better.
McLaurin and his teammates weapons will have high expectations because Eric Bieniemy, who won two Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs, is the new coordinator for the Commanders’ offense this season.
