Sad news: One of the tight ends for the Los Angeles Rams sustained a very serious injury.

Sean McVay, the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams, disclosed to the media on Monday that veteran tight end Tyler Higbee had suffered a dislocated shoulder on Sunday against the New York Giants.

Considering that Higbee was still able to participate in over 90% of the offensive snaps during the game, it was somewhat unexpected; however, the precise timing of his injury is unknown. Against the Giants, Higbee played well, converting a number of crucial first downs and hauling in six passes for 62 yards.

Since Higbee has been sidelined the entire season and McVay stated in November that his tight end was “fighting through a lot of stuff,” the news of his latest shoulder injury only serves to strengthen the theory that the Rams may decide to rest a few starters before facing the 49ers in Week 18.

In the worst case scenario, the Rams would only fall from sixth to seventh place if they chose to sit some players, even though they could maintain their sixth seed with a win and have already guaranteed a postseason spot. In addition, even in the event of a loss, they would be able to hold the sixth seed should the Seattle Seahawks defeat the Arizona Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers fall to the Chicago Bears.
