A former football player from FSU has committed to Oklahoma football.

Since December, more than 2,000 athletes from all over the nation have used the NCAA Transfer Portal. There are opportunities being created by this unprecedented movement that might not have been possible in the past. This covers athletes moving up or down a division.

In the previous offseason, Florida State acquired kicker Tyler Keltner from East Tennessee State (FCS) to challenge Ryan Fitzgerald for the starting position. Ultimately, Keltner supported Fitzgerald for the 2023 campaign before deciding to apply for graduate transfers through the portal last month.

After considering all of his options, Keltner has made up his mind. Keltner revealed on social media on Thursday afternoon that he was transferring to Oklahoma for his final season of college eligibility. For the starting position, he’ll face competition from true freshman Liam Evans and redshirt junior Zach Schmit.

Schmit had one of the worst records in the Big 12 last season, going 15/21 on field goals. When the Sooners move to the SEC in 2024, Keltner will be a part of the program.

The native of Florida played in just one game for the Seminoles. In the home finale, Kelter’s only kick, an extra point attempt, proved successful as Florida State defeated North Alabama.

He played three seasons at the FCS level for East Tennessee State before transferring to FSU. Keltner was chosen by the Buccaneers for the All-Southern Conference in both 2021 and 2022. Over his three years at East Tennessee State, he was 56/76 on field goal attempts and 131/131 on extra-point attempts.

Keltner ranks second in career points (299), and he holds program records for field goals and PATs made. Following his 2021 season-high 105 points and 51 made extra-point attempts, Keltner was selected by the media to the First-Team All-SoCon.

In 2024, starting punter Alex Mastroamnno and kicker Ryan Fitzgerald of Florida State will be back. Jake Weinberg, a three-star kicker, will also join the Seminoles this summer.

Since the window opened in December, the Seminoles have seen the following players enter: quarterback Tate Rodemaker, quarterback AJ Duffy (San Diego State), quarterback Rodney Hill,

running back CJ Campbell (FAU), tight end Markeston Douglas (Arizona State), tight end Preston Daniel, offensive lineman Bless Harris (TCU), offensive lineman Thomas Schrader, offensive lineman

Daughtry Richardson (FAU), offensive lineman Qae’shon Sapp (East Carolina), defensive end Gilber Edmond, defensive tackle Malcolm Ray, defensive tackle Ayobami Tifase (Georgia Tech), linebacker DJ Lundy (Colorado), and linebacker Dylan Brown-Turner enter the portal.
