After the terrible loss to the Tigers, Ryan Day made a rather awkward statement.

After Missouri defeated Ohio State 14-3 in the Cotton Bowl on Friday, Ryan Day stated that nothing is off the table this offseason if it “helps Ohio State go reach our goals.”

In Friday night’s 14-3 loss to the Missouri Tigers in the 2023 Goodyear Cotton Bowl, the Ohio State Buckeyes had their worst offensive showing since 2016.

With their three points against the Tigers, the Buckeyes scored the fewest in a single game since losing 31-0 to Clemson in a Sugar Bowl shutout seven years prior.

Ohio State has received a lot of criticism after the loss, most of it aimed at the offensive line and special teams players. When asked if he would think about making staff changes during the offseason, Buckeyes coach Ryan Day said that nothing was out of the question following the game.

“Everything will be examined,” Day declared. “It doesn’t matter that our quarterback was a rookie. You must proceed to win the match. It took place. Everything will be examined, as I have stated. We’ll make the necessary adjustments if doing so helps Ohio State accomplish our objectives and win these games.”

Social media users have criticized special teams coordinator Parker Fleming and offensive lines coach Justin Frye for their teams’ subpar play. Day did clarify, though, that all Ohio State personnel—coaches and not—would be evaluated regarding their time off the field.

Following Ohio State’s 42-41 loss to Georgia in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in 2022, Day made remarks about doing whatever it takes to win the following season. After the Buckeyes’ defeat by the Bulldogs, the head coach announced that he would take a break from play calling, but he returned to it as soon as the 2023 season got underway.

But this year was different in that Day appeared genuinely annoyed when he was available for interviews after the game. Maybe Day will finally mean what he says after the team loses two games in a row to end the season.
