After a botched arthroscopic knee surgery that nearly left the Lakers in excruciating pain, Gabe Vincent will be sidelined for at least two more months.
California’s El Segundo Guard Gabe Vincent of the Los Angeles Lakers will miss at least two months due to arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
Vincent underwent surgery on Wednesday, as the Lakers disclosed. Eight weeks from now, team physicians will reevaluate him.
Since joining the Lakers in the offseason to serve as their backup point guard, Vincent has only made five appearances in games. In October, he participated in the Lakers’ first four games of the season. However, he missed the next 23 games due to knee injury.
On December 20, he came back to play for 14 minutes against Chicago, but he was promptly shut down once more.
Vincent played for the Miami Heat for his first four NBA seasons. Last season, he recorded a career-high 9.4 points per game, 2.5 assists, and a 33.4% 3-point shooting percentage.
Because of Max Christie’s lackluster play, D’Angelo Russell’s inconsistent play, and Vincent’s absence, the Lakers have failed to rotate a guard consistently. They have been obliged to experiment with a number of different lineups and to send the ball to LeBron James more often in order to make him their main playmaker.
