Every Player on the Lions Roster Takes Part in Wednesday Practice

Wednesday marked the return of the Detroit Lions to the practice field in advance of their Week 15 primetime matchup with the Denver Broncos.

For a club that has struggled with several injuries in recent weeks, the fact that every player who is now active took part in practice is encouraging.

Frank Ragnow and Taylor Decker, who was designated as a non-participant on Tuesday, were observed at the team’s Allen Park practice facility.

A crucial period of Detroit’s season is about to begin. The Lions are two games ahead of the NFC North division with four games remaining. The squad would have a far better chance of earning its first division championship since 1993 if it prevailed on Saturday.

This season, the Lions have struggled with offensive line attrition as several starters have missed numerous games. Jonah Jackson made a comeback last week after missing five of the previous six, while Ragnow missed this one.

Ben Johnson, the offensive coordinator, has found that experimenting with different lineup combinations has been a valuable exercise. Matchups drive his personnel decisions, and the offensive line is a major factor in those considerations.

“If I told you I didn’t think about those things, I would be lying to you. In my opinion, when calling plays, you really must. If someone is having trouble early in the game and you’re a little anxious about so and so’s matchup or so and so coming into the week, you just want to give them a little extra support,” Johnson stated. That’s something we consider and discuss frequently.

“Very forward, shows up in the protection game. We also look for advantageous matchups and angles in the run game so that our players can perform well,” Johnson added. That takes place once a week. Regardless of whether we have our starting five or backups available, we’re constantly thinking about those matchups and how to best position them.”
