Amazing running back injury news for the Green Bay Packers vs the Detroit Lions (Breaking)

In Week 12, the Green Bay Packers will take on the Detroit Lions in an attempt to maintain their aspirations of making the Wild Card. The Packers unexpectedly find themselves one spot out of the seventh (and final) seed in the NFC playoffs following their thrilling victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Conversely, the Lions (8-2) aim to remain competitive with the Philadelphia Eagles (9-1) for the NFC’s top spot. The Packers received some very important news regarding their running back as they are getting ready for their opponent.

On Thanksgiving, the Green Bay Packers will start A.J. Dillon in his entirety against the Detroit Lions.

Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report claims that:

Sources tell Bleacher Report that Packers running back AJ Dillon, who has a groin injury on his injury report, is likely to play against the Lions on Thursday.

Aaron Jones is out of the game for Green Bay against Detroit on Thanksgiving due to a knee injury.

Despite having little effect against the Chargers (four receptions for 32 yards, 14 carries for 29 yards), Dillon will start as the starting quarterback for the Packers against the Lions. Lately, he has been playing some of his best football.

Dillon has 16 receptions for 106 yards and 117 rushes for 405 yards and a touchdown (3.5 yards per carry) going into Thursday. But he has carried the ball 32 times for 139 yards (an average of 4.3 yards) during the last three games. On November 12, against Pittsburgh, he also had his longest run of the season—40 yards—and hauled in six catches for 46 yards.

Even though Dillon has been erratic at times, his recent performance gives the running game some optimism—even in Jones’ absence. Play action passes and jet sweeps with Jayden Reed might be set up if the Packers can get Dillon going early.

Still, the Packers offense has a formidable challenge because the Lions run defense is ranked sixth. The league allows 3.8 yards per run. This week, the Packers also added James Robinson and Patrick Taylor to their roster. It’s quite probable that the team will use one or both of those running backs in third-down scenarios when facing the Lions.
