Bernhard Raimann, the Colts’ franchise left tackle, is growing.

There was some hope that Bernhard Raimann, selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, would emerge as the Indianapolis Colts’ long-term left tackle. Raimann, who recently switched from tight end to offensive lineman, was seen as a raw offensive lineman prospect coming out of Central Michigan.

Austrian by birth, Raimann has already exceeded all initial expectations in Indianapolis. Raimann is arguably the Colts’ most reliable lineman right now, starting left tackle alongside Ryan Kelly and Quenton Nelson, both of whom have been selected to multiple Pro Bowls.

With the highest offensive line rating of the Colts (81.3) on Pro Football Focus, Raimann is hardly allowing any pressure to escape from the quarterback’s blindside. Raimann’s statistics are astounding, as he has only allowed two sacks and two total penalties in 11 games so far, whether he is playing for Anthony Richardson as a backup or for Gardner Minshew as the starter.

The Colts’ offensive line was at an all-time low during the previous season, but they have made an enormous comeback. In addition to being thought of as an above-average left tackle in the NFL these days, Raimann is also helping players like Nelson and Kelly have successful comeback seasons under new offensive line coach Tony Sparano Jr.

Indianapolis’ offensive line is once again one of its main advantages. Four of the starting lineup, arguably, should be here for the long run: Braden Smith, Kelly, Nelson, and Raimann.

A seventh-round pick in 2021, Will Fries, has also performed admirably, beginning at right guard. Indianapolis might choose to sign or select Fries’ rivals in the upcoming offseason.

These kinds of inquiries are no longer accepted from Raimann. Should his growth trajectory serve as a guide, Raimann might be in line for a sizable salary during the 2025 offseason.

A year ago, porous offensive line play was the reason Indianapolis collapsed. They have now discovered a gem in Raimann, whom they can base their long-term plans around.
