After suffering an injury while serving for his country, Michail Antonio is currently sidelined; however, he should be back in action in a few weeks.
Twelve days ago, Michail Antonio, a forward for West Ham, was playing for Jamaica in an international match against Canada. He only lasted twenty-one minutes before hobbling off the field due to a knee injury.
Due to injury to his knee ligaments, the Hammers striker was expected to be sidelined for a considerable amount of time. According to one estimate, the 33-year-old might miss nine months of play.
While some reports had him out for up to three months, David Moyes informed reporters on Friday that he thought Antonio would only be out for two or three weeks (WHUFC.com).
The Scot seemed to have made a fairly optimistic prediction, and the most recent information from a sports injury expert leaves us with some little cause for concern.
Sports scientist and physical therapist Dr. Rajpal Brar privately discussed Antonio’s current injury with West Ham Zone.
“Ligament damage is the worry, therefore a three-month period would usually indicate ligament rupture and possibly fractures as well. The team’s approach to his recovery will need to be very deliberate. But based on what Moyes has stated, if that is the case, it appears to be a few weeks rather than months.
Hopefully, Moyes is correct. Although Antonio hasn’t played well this season, he’s still far more valuable than Danny Ings, and we’ll need him in the next month or so because the fixtures are coming up quickly.
Over the past 12 months, the 33-year-old has obviously declined severely, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he departed the London Stadium in the summer.
